Learn to be Silent - 6” x 6” Wall Art

On this Mixed Media one-of-a- kind artwork by Lynne, the background of Khadi cotton rag paper comprises layers of acrylic paint and spray colour in Ochre, Sage and Grey.  The focal is a stamped grungy circle with a stamped leaf.  The leaf was stamped twice and machine stitched down the centre to provide dimension by allowing the upper leaf to be folded upwards, allowing a peek at the stamped leaf below.  More machine stitching appears on this collage in the form of strips of stamped, painted paper, the stitching brings another layer of visual interest to the collage. 

Words often appear in my artwork and in this collage the stamped text reads, “Learn to be silent”.  We can bring our own interpretation to this but for me, it is seen as a reminder to pause, if even for a moment and bring silence upon yourself before continuing on with the day.
