Respect 6” x 6” on MDF Panel

This Mixed Media, one-of-a-kind artwork on an MDF panel, comprises layers of tissue

Gesso and walnut ink on cotton rag paper, mounted onto MDF panel, comprises the background for this one-of-a-kind Mixed Media artwork.  The application of the media on the cotton rag paper provides for a beautifully textural background.  The focal is a chipboard circle with a wash of walnut ink and touches of pearl ink in bronze and black with the stamped image of bird on branch, a stamp based on an original which I hand-carved. A strip of subtly painted cotton rag paper sits across the panel. Details on this artwork include elements from nature such as dried leaf and feather. The stamped word Respect is layered onto the leaf with a detail of black thread tied around the leaf.  Above the feather, a small stamped circle based on another of my original hand-carved stamps.

This artwork has an earthy colour palette with the message, a reminder to respect the natural world and the beauty it brings to us.
