Sisters of the Earth 6” on MDF Round Panel

This one-of-a-kind Mixed Media artwork sees inks including walnut ink applied to watercolour paper bringing a smoky, organic background which is layered to a MDF round panel. The central element is a chipboard AT.C. featuring the stamped words, We are sisters of the earth, layered with torn piece from walnut ink stained shipping tag, topped with mica tile. This panel is further layered to the MDF round with fragments of walnut ink stained muslin and teabag paper. On either side of this A.T.C. element are dried botanicals which were blackened from an eco-printing session.  There is a fragility to those elements which contrasts with the more robust appearance of the twigs. Three buttons, stitched with black thread to a piece of eco dyed fabric brings more textural interest to this panel.
